OMAHA, NE – Scott Petersen, America First conservative for Nebraska Secretary of State, today crushed Rep. Don Bacon’s baseless antisemitism smear and laid bare the failing Bob Evnen campaign’s dirty tactics.
“I haven’t spoken to Don Bacon in two and a half years,” Petersen stated. “I helped elect him in 2016, served as his Political Director in 2017-2018, but parted ways when he turned on President Trump and the Freedom Caucus. Last year, I helped his primary opponent, Dan Frei. Clearly, that still stings. Now Bacon is doing Evnen’s dirty work by inventing lies and falsely attributing social media comments from unpaid volunteers to my campaign. That’s the textbook definition of dirty campaigning.”
Petersen continued: “For the record, I stand 100% with President Trump in his strong support for Israel and the Jewish people. I have zero tolerance for antisemitism or any hatred. Check my 30-year public record on social media – you will not find a single antisemitic comment. This entire attack is a manufactured distraction from a desperate incumbent whose record on election integrity is failing Nebraska voters.”
This has nothing to do with the Secretary of State’s job.
The office is responsible for secure, transparent, verifiable elections; business filings; licensing; and protecting Nebraska’s sovereignty – not Washington-style identity politics or guilt-by-association smears. Bacon and Evnen have no defense of their failures on hand-count audits and election confidence, so they resort to this garbage.
“If Bob Evnen is truly Trump-aligned, he must immediately denounce Don Bacon’s long anti-Trump record and his interference in this race,” Petersen demanded. “Silence proves they are more interested in protecting the establishment than fighting for Nebraska First.”
Nebraskans reject RINOs, desperate lies, and divisive distractions. Petersen’s campaign is surging toward victory on May 12 because it focuses on what matters:
Ironclad election integrity with full hand-count verifiability so every legal vote counts.
Slashing red tape for Nebraska businesses and families.
Defending state sovereignty against federal overreach.
“The smear is over. The lie is buried. Don Bacon and Bob Evnen just showed Nebraska exactly who they are – desperate insiders with nothing left but falsehoods,” Petersen concluded. “Real conservatives are rejecting this circus. We are winning on the issues that strengthen our state, and nothing they throw will stop that.”
