This Privacy & Data Policy explains what information VoterTree uses, how your information is protected, and how information created while using VoterTree is handled.

Your VoterTree Is Yours.

VoterTree is designed to help you organize and manage your own personal voter outreach. We believe the information you enter into VoterTree should remain private and should be used only for the purpose you intended.

VoterTree does not sell your personal information. We do not rent it, turn your contacts into a marketing list, or provide your VoterTree to political campaigns or outside organizations.

This Privacy & Data Policy explains what information VoterTree uses, how that information is protected, and what happens to the information you create while using the service.

1. Information You Provide

When you create and use a VoterTree account, you may provide information necessary to establish and operate your account, including your:

• Name

• Address

• Email address

• Username

• Password

• Political party

 

As you use VoterTree, you may also create VoterTrees, select voters, complete outreach checklists, and enter notes or other information related to your personal outreach.

This information is used to provide and operate the VoterTree service.

​

2. Your VoterTree Data Is Private to You

Your VoterTrees, voter selections, checklist activity, notes, and related activity are private to your account.

​

Other VoterTree users cannot view your VoterTrees or determine whether you have added a particular voter to one of your trees.

​

VoterTree does not provide your personal VoterTree, voter selections, notes, contact details, or activity to Petersen for Nebraska or any other political campaign or outside organization.

​

Your VoterTree is for your personal outreach and organization.

​

3. We Do Not Sell or Market Your Information

VoterTree does not sell, rent, or provide your personal information or VoterTree information for third-party marketing purposes.

The people you add to your VoterTree are not turned into a campaign or commercial marketing list.

​

Information entered or generated through VoterTree is used only to provide and operate the VoterTree service, except as otherwise specifically disclosed in this policy.

4. Voter Registration Information

VoterTree uses voter-file information within its secure application environment to help users identify voters and build and manage their personal VoterTrees.

​

VoterTree may display information associated with voter records, such as a voter's name, address, political party, political districts, and election-participation history.

​

VoterTree does not know or reveal how anyone voted.

​

Election-participation history may indicate whether a person participated in a particular election. It does not reveal which candidate, party, ballot measure, or issue that person voted for. Ballot choices remain private.

5. Passwords and Account Security

Passwords are never stored in plain text or using reversible encryption. Passwords are protected using one-way password hashing.

​

VoterTree also uses standard security measures designed to protect information within the application.

​

Information transmitted between your device and VoterTree is protected using TLS encryption. Information maintained by the service is protected using standard encryption protocols at rest.

​

No internet-based system can guarantee absolute security, but VoterTree takes reasonable measures designed to protect the information entrusted to the service.

​

6. Service Providers and Infrastructure

VoterTree does not provide user information to third parties for marketing, advertising, or data-harvesting purposes.

​

Like other online applications, VoterTree may rely upon secure technical infrastructure and service providers necessary to operate and maintain the service, such as hosting, database, email, authentication, security, and backup services.

​

Those systems may process information as necessary to provide and maintain VoterTree. They are not used by VoterTree to turn your information into a marketing or advertising list.

7. Analytics and Tracking

VoterTree does not use tracking pixels or third-party marketing analytics to harvest users' personal information.

​

VoterTree does not use the information contained in your personal VoterTree to build advertising audiences or third-party marketing profiles.

​

8. Activity, Selections and Notes

Your VoterTree activity, voter selections, checklist responses, and notes remain within your private account record.

​

VoterTree does not separately collect this information for campaign marketing purposes.

​

9. Separation From Political Campaigns

VoterTree is an organizing tool. A user's decision to use VoterTree does not give Petersen for Nebraska or another political campaign access to that user's private VoterTree.

Political campaigns and outside organizations do not receive your:

• Personal VoterTree

• Voter selections

• Contact details

• Checklist activity

• Notes

• Outreach activity

 

Your use of VoterTree does not automatically enroll the people in your VoterTree in a campaign mailing, email, text-message, or marketing list.

10. Other VoterTree Users

Each user's VoterTree is isolated from other users.

​

Another VoterTree user cannot view your tree or determine that you have selected or added a particular voter.

​

Likewise, you cannot view another user's private VoterTree through your account.

​

11. Account and Data Deletion

If your VoterTree account is deleted, the trees, notes, and related records associated with the account are permanently removed from the active system.

​

Information contained in automated server backups may remain temporarily as part of routine backup processes. Those backups expire and are purged according to the system's standard retention cycles.

​

Backup copies are maintained for system recovery and security purposes, not for marketing or continued use of deleted VoterTree information.

​

12. Changes to This Policy

VoterTree may update this Privacy & Data Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the application, its security practices, legal requirements, or the services used to operate VoterTree.

​

When material changes are made, the effective date at the top of this policy will be updated.
