Restoring Confidence in Nebraska Elections

My fellow Nebraskans,
I am Scott Petersen, a Nebraska First conservative, businessman, and proud Omahan running for Secretary of State because our elections must be secure, transparent, and beyond reproach.
For too long, legitimate concerns about verifiability, auditability, and public confidence have gone insufficiently addressed by the status quo. While our county clerks work hard and serve Nebraska well, leadership at the top has too often focused on defending the current system instead of aggressively strengthening it through maximum transparency and accountability.
I believe Nebraskans deserve better.
We deserve elections where paper records allow meaningful hand audits that truly verify machine counts. We need stronger chain-of-custody protections for ballots, diligent maintenance of clean voter rolls, robust citizenship verification, and real safeguards for poll watchers and challengers. Citizens should have clear, accessible public reporting so they can see for themselves that every legal vote is counted and only legal votes are counted.
Documentaries and investigations highlighting vulnerabilities in election systems have resonated with many Americans because they tap into a fundamental truth: trust is not automatic. It must be earned through observable, repeatable processes that everyday citizens can understand and verify.
Instead of dismissing questions or concerns, the Secretary of State’s office should welcome scrutiny and lead the charge for continuous improvement.
As a business owner, I bring a practical, results-oriented approach. I will conduct a top-to-bottom review of operations, modernize systems where needed, eliminate bureaucratic inertia, and put Nebraska values first — always upholding our Constitution without yielding to federal overreach.
I am running to restore confidence that Nebraska elections truly reflect the will of the people. Our state’s reputation for integrity should not be assumed; it should be earned anew in every election cycle through openness, accountability, and transparency that the public can see.
This Tuesday, May 12, you have an opportunity to help make that happen.
I humbly ask for your vote in the Republican primary and your support for a stronger, more transparent future for Nebraska elections.
I would be deeply honored to earn both your vote and your trust.
Together, we can ensure Nebraska leads with openness, excellence, and an unwavering commitment to election integrity — the foundation of our republic and the cornerstone of self-government.
God bless you, and God bless Nebraska.
