Scott Petersen Signs Vice President Vance’s Pledge to Protect Americans from Fraud, Calls for Greater Election Transparency.

LINCOLN, NE — Scott Petersen, Republican nominee for Nebraska Secretary of State, has signed Vice President JD Vance’s Pledge to Protect Americans from Fraud, expressing his support for the Trump administration’s efforts to combat fraud, safeguard taxpayer dollars, and hold wrongdoers accountable.

The Vice President’s six-point pledge focuses on protecting vulnerable Americans, preventing the misuse of taxpayer-funded benefits, improving coordination among government agencies, and ensuring that individuals convicted of fraud face appropriate legal consequences.

Petersen signed the pledge and issued the following statement:

“I stand with President Trump and Vice President JD Vance in the fight against fraud and the misuse of taxpayer dollars.
Americans work too hard to have their tax dollars stolen by fraudsters or squandered through government negligence. Those resources should go to the people who legitimately need them, not criminals exploiting the system.
Protecting vulnerable Americans, safeguarding taxpayer dollars, and holding those responsible for fraud accountable shouldn't be partisan issues. They're fundamental responsibilities of good government.
Accountability isn't optional. Neither is the rule of law.
I'm proud to support the Vice President's pledge to protect Americans from fraud.”

Extending Accountability to America's Elections

For Petersen, the principles outlined in the Vice President's pledge extend beyond taxpayer-funded benefit programs to the integrity of America's elections and the transparency of political financing.

As Nebraska's chief election officer, the Secretary of State is responsible for administering election laws, overseeing election procedures, and maintaining public confidence in the electoral process.

Throughout his campaign, Petersen has emphasized the importance of accurate voter rolls, verifiable election procedures, secure election records, and meaningful public oversight.

The same principles that guide efforts to prevent fraud in government programs—verification, documentation, transparency, and enforcement—are essential to protecting the integrity of elections.

Preventing fraud, identifying potential violations, and ensuring compliance with the law require reliable records, meaningful oversight, and a commitment to accountability regardless of political affiliation.

New Election Watch Tool Gives Americans Greater Visibility Into Federal Campaign Contributions

Petersen also highlighted the recent introduction of FECVisual.com, an interactive campaign finance research platform developed by election researcher Peter Bernegger and the Election Watch team.

The platform allows members of the public to search and analyze Federal Election Commission (FEC) contribution records, examine financial activity across federal political committees, and identify patterns that may warrant further investigation.

According to Bernegger, the platform offers more than 100 filters, 148 possible data views, interactive geographic mapping, and relationship-visualization tools designed to help users explore federal campaign contributions.

The platform also includes tools for examining contributions associated with major political fundraising platforms, including ActBlue and WinRed, as well as individual federal campaign committees. Bernegger says the underlying FEC data is updated every Monday.

Of particular interest is the platform's ability to help researchers identify patterns associated with alleged donation smurfing, including unusually frequent small-dollar contributions that may warrant further examination to determine whether the named contributors actually authorized the transactions.

Such patterns can raise questions about possible identity theft, unauthorized contributions, or other campaign finance irregularities. However, unusual contribution patterns alone do not establish wrongdoing. Any suspected violations must be evaluated against the underlying records and applicable law.

Petersen recently shared the platform with his followers, noting that examples involving both major political parties are available for examination.

“Follow the money. Transparency is non-negotiable,” Petersen wrote.

The platform's publicly accessible research tools give citizens, journalists, researchers, and watchdog organizations additional opportunities to independently examine federal campaign finance records.

While enforcement of federal campaign finance laws falls under federal jurisdiction, Petersen believes public access to election-related records is essential to maintaining confidence in the political process.

Fraud prevention should not depend on political affiliation. Whether concerns involve Republican or Democratic campaigns, the same standards of transparency, verification, and accountability should apply.

The introduction of FECVisual.com reinforces a central theme of Petersen's campaign: public records should be accessible, government processes should be transparent, and potential violations should be investigated based on evidence rather than political considerations.

Protecting Public Trust Requires More Than Promises

For Petersen, supporting the Vice President's pledge reflects the principles that have guided his campaign for Nebraska Secretary of State: transparency, accountability, and faithful enforcement of the law.

His priorities include maintaining accurate voter rolls, protecting election records, strengthening chain-of-custody procedures, and supporting meaningful public audits that allow Nebraskans to verify the integrity of their elections.

Petersen believes emerging resources such as FECVisual.com demonstrate how public access to government records can empower citizens to identify potential irregularities, ask informed questions, and demand accountability.

Protecting taxpayer dollars and protecting the integrity of our elections are not competing priorities. Both are essential to restoring public trust in government.

As Petersen emphasized in his endorsement of the Vice President's pledge:

“Accountability isn't optional. Neither is the rule of law.”
