Dr. Douglas G. Frank endorses Scott Petersen for Nebraska Secretary of State.

OMAHA, Neb. — Scott Petersen, Republican nominee for Nebraska Secretary of State, today announced the endorsement of Dr. Douglas G. Frank, scientist, inventor, and nationally known election-integrity advocate often referred to as the “Johnny Appleseed of Election Integrity.”

Frank has spent years traveling the country to present election data, meet with citizens and policymakers, and encourage greater public involvement in election administration. He has also made repeated visits to Nebraska, where his work has been shared with grassroots activists and state policymakers.

“I’ve been called the ‘Johnny Appleseed of Election Integrity’ because for years I’ve traveled this country planting seeds: teaching citizens, briefing lawmakers, digging into voter data and reminding Americans that self-government only works when the people stay involved,” Frank said.

“I’ve planted quite a few of those seeds in Nebraska, and along the way I kept seeing one familiar face in the room: Scott Petersen.

“Scott didn’t show up once, shake a few hands and decide he had become an election expert. He kept coming back. He listened. He asked questions. He studied the issues. Most importantly, he understood that restoring confidence in elections is not a slogan. It is a responsibility.”

Frank said Petersen’s consistency and willingness to engage deeply on election issues distinguished him.

“Election integrity requires leaders willing to follow the data, question assumptions, protect the original evidence of an election and insist upon systems ordinary citizens can understand, observe and verify,” Frank said. “Government should never have to say, ‘Just trust us.’ A good election system should be able to show its work.

“Scott gets that.”

Frank also praised Petersen’s respect for grassroots activists and citizen involvement.

“The real strength of election integrity is the grassroots,” Frank said. “It is citizens who care enough to learn, participate, ask questions and hold their government accountable. Scott respects those people because he is one of them.

“So here is my highly scientific conclusion: Nebraska should elect Scott Petersen as its next Secretary of State.”

Petersen said Frank’s endorsement is especially meaningful because of his years of persistence and his ability to connect complex technical subjects to everyday citizens.

“Dr. Frank has been remarkably consistent,” Petersen said. “He has traveled thousands of miles, sat with lawmakers, spoken with grassroots activists and spent countless hours helping ordinary Americans better understand election data and why transparency matters.

“What I have always respected about Doug is his unwavering patriotism and his ability to connect with people. He can take an incredibly complicated subject, make it understandable and usually find a way to make you laugh somewhere along the way.”

Petersen said he attended several of Frank’s presentations over the years because he believed candidates and public officials should be willing to listen, learn and ask difficult questions.

“Doug never treated election integrity as a passing political issue,” Petersen said. “He stayed engaged, kept showing up and continued encouraging citizens to take ownership of their elections. That kind of dedication matters. I’m honored to have his support.”

Petersen has made restoring confidence in Nebraska elections a central focus of his campaign for Secretary of State, emphasizing accurate voter rolls, citizenship verification, voter ID, voter-verifiable paper ballots, strong chain-of-custody protections, transparent audits and greater public involvement in election administration.
