Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn Endorses Scott Petersen for Nebraska Secretary of State

OMAHA, Neb. — Scott Petersen, Republican nominee for Nebraska Secretary of State, today announced the endorsement from Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn, U.S. Army (Ret.), former Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency and 25th National Security Advisor of the United States.

“I wholeheartedly endorse Scott Petersen for Nebraska Secretary of State,” Flynn wrote in his endorsement.

Flynn pointed specifically to Petersen’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and election processes that citizens can verify.

“Scott is an America First conservative who understands that confidence in our elections must be earned through transparency, accountability, and results that can be verified by the people,” Flynn wrote. “He has committed himself to protecting lawful votes, maintaining accurate voter rolls, strengthening chain-of-custody procedures, and ensuring Nebraska’s elections are secure and publicly accountable.”

Flynn also praised Petersen’s willingness to challenge assumptions surrounding election administration.

“At a time when too many elected officials dismiss legitimate concerns and ask Americans to blindly trust the system, Scott has demonstrated the courage to question the status quo,” Flynn wrote. “He understands that transparency does not weaken our elections. It strengthens them.”

Flynn said Nebraska citizens deserve an election system that can withstand public scrutiny.

“The citizens of Nebraska deserve an election system that follows the law, withstands scrutiny, and serves the people rather than political insiders or unaccountable institutions,” Flynn wrote.

Flynn also cited Petersen’s private-sector experience and service within the Nebraska Republican Party as preparation for the responsibilities of the Secretary of State’s office.

“Scott has decades of private-sector experience, and service within the Nebraska Republican Party has prepared him to bring discipline, efficiency, and accountability to the Secretary of State’s office,” Flynn wrote.

He concluded his endorsement by placing Petersen’s candidacy within a broader national need for state-level leadership.

“Our country needs state leaders who will defend the Constitution, protect the integrity of our elections, and place the interests of American citizens first,” Flynn wrote. “Scott Petersen is prepared to be one of those leaders.”

“I am proud to offer my full and enthusiastic endorsement of Scott Petersen for Nebraska Secretary of State, and I encourage the people of Nebraska to stand with him.”

Petersen said Flynn’s endorsement carries special significance because of his decades of military, intelligence and national security leadership.

“General Flynn has spent more than three decades serving our country at the highest levels of military, intelligence and national security leadership,” Petersen said. “To have someone with his experience, his understanding of the Constitution and his commitment to America’s future place his confidence in our campaign is an extraordinary honor.”

Petersen said Flynn’s emphasis on transparency and public accountability reflects the core philosophy of his campaign.

“What means the most to me is what General Flynn recognized in this campaign: we should never have to ask citizens to simply trust government,” Petersen said. “Confidence must be earned through transparency, accountability and processes strong enough to withstand scrutiny.”

“The Secretary of State is entrusted with our elections, our official records and responsibilities that directly affect the people and businesses of Nebraska,” Petersen said. “Those duties demand discipline, accountability and a willingness to put the public interest first.”

Petersen said Nebraska has an opportunity to lead nationally by making election administration more transparent and verifiable.

“General Flynn is absolutely right that transparency strengthens elections,” Petersen said. “My goal as Secretary of State will be to make Nebraska a national example of elections that are secure, transparent, verifiable and worthy of the confidence of the people we serve.”

Petersen has made restoring confidence in Nebraska elections a central focus of his campaign, emphasizing accurate voter rolls, strengthening voter ID, citizenship verification, voter-verifiable paper ballots, strong chain-of-custody protections, transparent audits and greater public visibility into election administration.
