Nebraska State Auditor Mike Foley Endorses Scott Petersen for Secretary of State

OMAHA, Neb. — Scott Petersen, Republican nominee for Nebraska Secretary of State, today announced the endorsement from Nebraska State Auditor Mike Foley.
Foley said Petersen understands that public trust is built through competent administration, accountability and careful stewardship of the responsibilities entrusted to state government.
“I am proud to endorse Scott Petersen for Nebraska Secretary of State,” Foley said.
“The Secretary of State’s office carries significant responsibility — from administering elections to maintaining important public records and serving Nebraska businesses. Those duties require integrity, sound judgment and a commitment to accountability.”
Foley said Petersen has demonstrated that mindset throughout his campaign.
“Scott understands that public trust is earned by doing the work well, following the law and making government more transparent and responsive to the people it serves,” Foley said.
“Throughout his campaign, Scott has emphasized secure and transparent elections, efficient business services and responsible stewardship of the office. Those are priorities that matter to Nebraska taxpayers and citizens.”
As State Auditor, Foley has made accountability in government a central part of his public service, and he said that same principle should guide the Secretary of State’s office.
“Good government is not complicated,” Foley said. “It requires leaders who respect the public’s money, take their responsibilities seriously and insist on accountability at every level. I trust Scott Petersen to do that as Secretary of State.”
Petersen thanked Foley for the endorsement and praised his record of holding government accountable.
“Mike Foley has built a reputation for asking the questions taxpayers expect their public officials to ask,” Petersen said. “He understands that every public office is a position of trust and that accountability is not an inconvenience — it is part of the job.”
Petersen said Foley’s endorsement is especially meaningful because the State Auditor and Secretary of State share a common responsibility to ensure state government operates with integrity and earns the confidence of the people it serves.
“The Secretary of State’s office should be efficient, transparent and responsive,” Petersen said. “Whether we are talking about elections, business filings, public records or any other responsibility of the office, Nebraskans deserve competent service and clear accountability.”
"
“Mike has spent years standing up for taxpayers and insisting that government meet a higher standard. I am honored to have his support and look forward to bringing that same standard of stewardship to the Secretary of State’s office.”
Petersen has made restoring confidence a central theme of his campaign for Secretary of State, emphasizing secure and transparent elections, accurate voter rolls, citizenship verification, voter ID, voter-verifiable paper ballots, strong chain-of-custody protections, modernized business services, civic education and accountable government.
