OMAHA, NE — Scott Petersen, candidate for Nebraska Secretary of State, released the following statement regarding the devastating wildfires impacting communities across Nebraska:
“Our hearts are with the families and communities affected by the devastating wildfires across our state.
With the tragic loss of life, the loss of livestock, and damage to homes and property, many Nebraskans are facing unimaginable hardship. These are not just headlines—these are our neighbors, our farmers and ranchers, and the communities that make Nebraska strong.
In the face of this devastation, we are also seeing the very best of Nebraska. I want to express my deepest gratitude to the firefighters, first responders, local officials, and volunteers who have worked tirelessly, often in dangerous and rapidly changing conditions, to protect lives and property. Their courage and selflessness do not go unnoticed.
Rural Nebraska is built on resilience, faith, and a willingness to step up for one another. Across the state, neighbors are helping neighbors, and communities are coming together to support those in need.
Please continue to keep the affected families in your thoughts and prayers. If you are able, I encourage everyone to support local relief efforts and lend a hand where possible.
Nebraska is strong. And together, we will recover and rebuild.”
