OMAHA, NE — Today, Scott Petersen, Republican candidate for Nebraska Secretary of State, announced the release of a new campaign advertisement titled “Play It Right,” emphasizing integrity, accountability, and the importance of following the rules both in sports and in government.
The ad draws a parallel between the game of pickleball and the responsibilities of the Secretary of State’s office, reinforcing a simple message: play by the rules, be honest, and do the job the right way.
“In pickleball, you play within the lines. You call the score honestly. You respect the rules—and you play it right,” Petersen says in the ad.
“And that’s how government should work too.”
The 60-second spot highlights the core responsibilities of the Secretary of State’s office—protecting elections, supporting small businesses, and promoting Nebraska’s economy while connecting those duties to Petersen’s real-world experience as a Nebraska businessman.
“I spent the last 30 years building businesses in Nebraska,” Petersen says. “I know what it’s like to meet a payroll, follow the rules, and work hard.”
The ad closes with Petersen’s campaign message:
“You deserve a Secretary of State who listens to and works hard for the people of Nebraska… Let’s play it right.”
Petersen said the ad reflects the tone and focus of his campaign.
“This race isn’t about politics as usual,” Petersen said. “It’s about restoring confidence in how our government operates, whether that’s our elections, our business systems, or how we serve the people of Nebraska. Nebraskans expect fairness, transparency, and accountability. That’s what this campaign is about.”
The “Play It Right” ad will run across digital platforms, social media, and targeted media markets across Nebraska as part of the campaign’s broader voter outreach effort.
